Actions by Nominated Fire Marshals:
- On hearing the fire alarm put on your hi-vis jacket and collect and turn on radio
- Ensure that all non-essential persons leave the area quickly and calmly (non-essential persons are those that do not have responsibility for CYP).
- Check that all areas within your allocated zone have been evacuated – do not open a door if there is smoke coming out from under the door or the door feels hot
- Shut all doors behind you to prevent the spread of smoke and fire
- Tell all non-essential you see to leave the building immediately – be particularly alert for visitors unfamiliar with the building.
- If someone refuses to leave, make a note of their name and location. Do not wait or argue with them
- Report to the Fire Incident Manager and advise that:
- everybody has been accounted for
- names and location of anybody who has refused to leave
- name and location of anybody unable to escape due to a disability
Ensure nobody re-enters the building until the all clear is given by the Fie Incident Manager
