SATURDAY 18^th 

• Our monthly bereavement drop-in will be held in the Seaside Room from 10:00am – 12:00pm.

SUNDAY 19^th

• Happy Father’s Day to all of our Derian Dads! Our youngsters will be making cards in the Messy PlayZone today.

MONDAY 20^th

• Welcome to Children’s Hospice Week, a celebration of the nation’s 54 children’s hospices that care for children and young people whose lives are too short. We’ll be kicking things off on social media with our Derian Pedal Power challenge, a homage to Francesca Lennon, a children’s nurse who will today set off on her cycle to every single children’s hospice throughout the summer.

 

• Sensory Story Time will take place in the Seaside Room from 1:30 – 3:00pm for Derian families.

 

• External marketing agency Ideal Result, who work with us on our Lottery, will be bringing two videographers to Derian House to film a brand new Fundraising Video. Some of our families will be dropping in to be interviewed.

 

• Keeping in Touch sessions kick off today with David (CEO). Catch a session this week or next, and email jacquie.hartley@derianhouse.co.uk for more information.

 

• An information session based on Advanced Care Planning with our ACP’s will be held today. Please email Hayleigh or Sue Ward for more information.

 

• We’ll be doing lots of artwork in the Messy PlayZone this week to celebrate Children’s Hospice Week. We’re kicking things off with bunting making and the ‘Derian Way’, inspired by Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. All staff, volunteers, children, young people and visitors are welcome to join in throughout the week.

TUESDAY 21^st

• A Music & Movement information session with Claire van Opstal (Play & Wellbeing Worker) will take place this afternoon. Please email her for more information.

 

• Weekly playgroup for our Derian toddlers and babies will take place in the Seaside Room from 10:00am – 12:00pm.

WEDNESDAY 22^nd

• Join our music teacher Rachel Toner in from 11am for a sing-a-long in The Snug.

 

• The Derian Voices will be meeting in the Seaside Room from 12:00 – 1:00pm. You’re very welcome to attend, no matter your singing ability!

 

• Adele Doherty (Deputy CEO and Director of Clinical Services from Kershaw’s Hospice) is visiting the hospice.

 

• Visitors from East Lancashire Hospice will be coming to the hospice to meet our Transition team.

 

• Clare Grady Smith (Community Services Manager) will be holding an information session today based on ‘Verification of Death’. Location TBC (email for more info).

 

• Music and Movement for our in-house children and young people will take place this morning, location TBC.

 

• Derian Dads will be out at Hartwood Hall this evening for their monthly gathering from 7:30pm.

THURSDAY 23^rd

• Our Pets as Therapy dog, Shuna, will be arriving at Derian with her human Linda for their weekly visit.

 

• All staff are welcome to attend an art competition in the Messy PlayZone this morning. Prizes for the winners!

 

• Don’t forget your trainers – it’s Sports Day! Meet us in Smile Park this afternoon for an hour of fun.

 

• At 9:30am this morning, an MCA and DOLs information session will take place with Dawn Andrews (Family and Young People Services Manager). Please email her for a location.

 

• This week’s Guided Meditation/Relaxation session with John Pilling (Family Counsellor) will be held in the Cinema (TBC) at 2pm this afternoon. All staff are welcome to attend.

 

• Individual sessions of Music Therapy will take place in the Snug from 2:00pm – 6:00pm.

FRIDAY 24^th  

• Siblings group Chill Out & Chat will be meeting in the Seaside Room from 6:30 – 9:00pm.

 

• Friday Night Club for our under 18s will be held in the Lodge Lounge from 6:30 – 9:00pm.

 

• Derian parents will be joining us for a Coffee Morning in the Seaside Room from 10:00am.

 

• *Great British Bake Off theme plays intensely*. Everyone get to Danni’s Diner from 10:00am for a baking competition for all staff, volunteers, children and young people.

 

• The Derian Arms is back open for business! To finish off celebrating Children’s Hospice Week 2022, we’ll be gathering in the Sensory Garden for a dirty non-alcoholic beer and pub quiz.

SATURDAY 25^th

• Danni’s Club, for our younger siblings, will be meeting in the Seaside Room from 1:30 – 4:00pm.

 

• Our Fundraising Team will be out in full force at the Morecambe Bay Walk, our annual fundraiser which sees supporters trek eight miles from the picturesque village of Arnside to Grange-over-Sands to raise vital funds for Derian House. Good luck to everyone taking part, including Karen from the Blackburn shop, Mick, Sarah, Kerry and volunteer Eileen!

 

• We’re going on a treasure hunt around the hospice this morning with our children and young people – what will we find?!

 

• Our Pets as Therapy dog Tallulah will be visiting us with her human, Clare, this afternoon.

SUNDAY 26^th

• 3, 2, 1… jump! Our huge summer fundraiser Dive for Derian kicks off today at Black Knights Parachute Centre. Over 30 daredevils will take to the skies and jump 15,000 out of a plane to raise money for us. Good luck to our very own Karen Birch, Danielle Lund and Cam, who will all be diving!
