WHAT’S ON WEEKLY @ DERIAN HOUSE (Monday 10th March – Sunday 16th March)
HOSPICE OPENING & CLOSING DAYS
- This week, we have children and young people booked in from Monday until Saturday evening. We’ll be closed overnight on Sunday 16th and Monday 17th, re-opening on Tuesday 18th for five nights.
MONDAY 10th
- It’s-a-me, Mario! Our children and young people will be taking part in themed arty fun in the Messy PlayZone this morning to celebrate Super Mario Day.
- The hydrotherapy pool will be open for swimming lessons this afternoon.
TUESDAY 11th
- Derian Playgroup will be held in the Seaside Room this morning, where our babies and toddlers will be enjoying a morning of music, messy play and fun from 10:00am – 11:30am.
- Our first paediatric palliative care study day will be taking place today, led by our Education Team. The day is aimed at healthcare professionals who support CYP and their families who are receiving palliative and end of life care in acute and community settings.
- Let’s get our bodies moving, it’s music and movement time! Join us in the Sensory Room this afternoon.
WEDNESDAY 12th
- Cornerstones – our support group for bereaved grandparents – will take place in the Seaside Room from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
- We Are Derian staff forum will be held in the Seaside Room from 2:00pm – 3:00pm. All staff are welcome to attend.
- Sensory Story Time for our children and young people will take place in the House Lounge this morning.
- We’re off on a trip out in the fun bus to rebound therapy this afternoon for some bouncing fun!
- Pet Therapy pooch Shuna will retire today, with a goodbye celebration being held in the Seaside Room for her in the Seaside Room from 3:00pm.
THURSDAY 13th
- We’re hosting our very first Iftar event this evening in the Seaside Room from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, where we’ll be celebrating the holy month of Ramadan with influential members of the Muslim community and Derian families involved in our Ramadan campaign.
- Spring has sprung – meet us in the Messy PlayZone this morning to make flower wreaths to take home.
- Our children and young people will be enjoying fun and splashes in the hydrotherapy pool this afternoon.
FRIDAY 14th
- Let’s make some yummy baking treats in Danni’s Diner for us to take home.
SATURDAY 15th
- The first-ever Coffee & Chat for volunteers will be held at the hospice here this morning from 10:00am. It’s a drop-in session for any of our volunteers across the organisation to enjoy a pastry, meet one another, and find out what’s currently going on at Derian House.
- What will we find in the grounds of the hospice in our Great Derian Scavenger Hunt this afternoon?
SUNDAY 16th
- There will be no kitchen staff in today, so any staff working will need to bring their own meals.
- The Keepsake Circle Chapter Four will launch today at an afternoon tea for all the families who have taken part in this year’s special song-writing project with our Patron, Kiki Deville.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
- The latest CQC briefing sessions will start up again at the end of this month. To book a place on either Thursday 27th March (10:00am – 11:30am), Friday 28th March (1:00pm – 2:30pm), Tuesday 1st April (10:00am – 11:30am), Thursday 3rd April (10:00am – 11:30am) or Friday 4th April (1:00pm – 2:30pm), please email Julie Hatch (Executive Assistant).
