Wedding joy as poorly son shares mum’s big day

“Derian House made it possible for me to spend my special day as a mum as opposed to being a carer. It can be hard to find childcare for a complex child like Oliver, and we are so grateful that we have Derian to help – they went above and beyond.” ✨

There were smiles and happy tears all round as eight-year-old Oliver, who requires round-the-clock care, was able to attend his mum’s wedding with the help of staff from Derian House 💒

Mum Samantha Dolan had just one wedding wish – for all three of her sons to be there as she walked down the aisle at Holland Hall, in Skelmersdale, on Friday 24th October 👰🏼‍♀️

Her son Oliver fell ill at just four weeks old, suffering from meningitis and a hypoxic brain injury. As a result, he struggles with movement and sight, and needs oxygen to breathe due to a chest condition, requiring 24/7 care 🫶

But despite everything, Oliver, now eight, was able to celebrate at the wedding alongside his brothers Jacob and Benjamin, and the rest of the family – with help from two members of our team from the hospice 💫

We’re so glad that we could help make Samantha and Christopher’s very special day even more special, and that they could relax and enjoy it without having to worry 💚
