Fire Marshals

Actions by Nominated Fire Marshals:

  1. On hearing the fire alarm put on your hi-vis jacket and collect and turn on radio
  2. Ensure that all non-essential persons leave the area quickly and calmly (non-essential persons are those that do not have responsibility for CYP).
  3. Check that all areas within your allocated zone have been evacuated – do not open a door if there is smoke coming out from under the door or the door feels hot
  4. Shut all doors behind you to prevent the spread of smoke and fire
  5. Tell all non-essential you see to leave the building immediately – be particularly alert for visitors unfamiliar with the building.
  6. If someone refuses to leave, make a note of their name and location. Do not wait or argue with them
  7. Report to the Fire Incident Manager and advise that:
    1. everybody has been accounted for
    2. names and location of anybody who has refused to leave
    3. name and location of anybody unable to escape due to a disability

Ensure nobody re-enters the building until the all clear is given by the Fie Incident Manager
