1. Ascertain from the caller the name(s) of the trapped persons and what has happened
2. IN NORMAL HOURS (08:30 – 16:30 Monday to Friday)
• Assure the trapped persons that a member of staff will be with them very shortly & a release will be made within a short time. Keep on the line & communication open until a member of staff is in attendance
• Advise the trapped persons of the situation & Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for the release
3. OUTSIDE OF NORMAL HOURS
• Assure the trapped persons that a member of staff will be with them very shortly & a release will be made within a short time. Keep on the line and communication open until a member of staff is in attendance, or if you personally are attending, advise them accordingly
• Arrange for a member of staff to be in attendance at the lift as soon as possible
• If either are unable to attend or do not answer, call the following in order:
Express Lift Alliance on 0116 201 1050 and obtain an ETA from them. If this is greater than 1 hour OR the trapped persons are distressed, call the Fire Services on 999 and obtain an ETA
• Advise the trapped persons of the situation & ETA for the release. Keep on the line if a member of staff has not yet got to them
The keys for the lift control panel & door release are held in the Care Team Office adjacent
